Grid Tycoon is a free multiplayer electricity-market strategy game. Run a power plant — solar, wind, nuclear, coal, gas, or battery storage — bid energy into real-time auctions, survive blackouts and price shocks, and learn how the power grid actually works. No signup, plays in your browser.

How to play

Create a game room and share the invite link, or join with a code. New players can try a guided 5-minute tutorial.
Pick a power plant and tune its costs to set your LCOE (break-even price).
Each round, bid into the market: Day-Ahead (locked price, predictable) or Real-Time (live clearing price, riskier).
Survive curveball events — heatwaves, storms, fuel shocks — manage blackouts, and outlast your rivals.
After 4 seasons, the player with the most cash wins.

What you'll learn

Merit order dispatch — cheapest plants run first; the last unit needed sets the clearing price for everyone.
Day-ahead vs real-time markets — lock in guaranteed revenue or chase the spot price.
LCOE — your break-even cost per megawatt-hour.
Carbon pricing — fossil plants pay per tonne of CO₂, shifting the merit order toward renewables.
